lights are bright as the curtains rise
the stage is set
the actors are cued

let the play begin.

act 1.

flash that smile as you hear their applause
let the audience watch in amazement

speak your lines as if you know them
pretend as though you do not fear

act 2.

the world seems to conspire against you
and the actors won't give you cues

look away as if undaunted
speak your lines as if you know them
pretend as though you do not fear

the finale.

let the audience watch in amazement
flash that smile as you hear their applause

close your eyes and speak your lines
and in a few moments it'll all be over

your final line, take a bow.

and the audience gives a standing ovation

and in this three part play you know
you are your biggest fan

and in this three part play you know
you fooled yourself more than anyone else

lights are dim, the curtains fall
actors off stage

and you're alone

and that's when the tears begin to show

i deserve an acting award

the award doesn't matter now, but the tears do. and the pain. but as you have ended it, the lights were switched off and the curtains closed.
